A galley is the most efficient kitchen there is. Two runs, one walkway, everything within a step of everything else. It is also the layout least forgiving of a standard cabinet, because a run built in 100mm increments will always leave you a filler panel where you wanted a drawer.
We are cabinet makers. Every galley in this gallery was set out to the millimetre of the room, which is what allows a run to reach wall to wall with no dead space and a walkway to stay wide enough for two people to pass with the oven open.
Handleless work suits this layout for a practical reason rather than a fashionable one. Nothing catches a hip or a sleeve in a narrow passage, so the runs stay clean and the room reads longer than it is.
